Top 3 (affordable) Lipstick and Lip Gloss Picks

That last post about making your lipstick stay was getting a little long. So here are my favorite lipsticks and lip gloss, as well as what I don't like.

First of all, allow me to sing the praises of Burt's Bee's Lip Shimmer and Tinted Lip Balm.
If you're having to choose between chapstick and lipstick because you have dry lips, THIS STUFF IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. It's got enough color to act like lipstick but feels like Burt's Bees. I'm a huge fan. $5-7 at the drug store, sometimes you can get coupons. This is a must have.
The shimmer goes on darker and shinier.
Lip Balm is more like chap stick with a little color.
Go buy some now.

Maybelline Lip Butter. This stuff feels amazing and never dries out my lips. Drawback: it doesn't stay on as long as some others. (This is where the aforementioned lipstick trick comes in handy.) Drug store, about $5-8.

Ulta lipstick has staying power, but doesn't feel dry. It's also more affordable than other high-end makeup. I think it's about $10.

Physician's Formula Lip Plumper Pallet is my favorite. Four colors, they're shiny without an added lip gloss, and they last forever. You can find this at any drug store. I don't like the brush that comes with it, though, because the bristles shed. I use a lip brush instead. This is somewhere between $8-11.

Lip Gloss:

My all-time favorite is Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss. It lasts forever, I never have to re-apply, and it's not sticky. It's more expensive than my other recommendations, but that's ok because you aren't using a whole tube of it every week.

Second favorite: Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lip gloss. I tried this first when my sister-in-law Krista gave me some for my birthday one year. It's fantastic and doesn't ever feel sticky, which is a big deal to me. I hate sticky lip gloss. Smells amazing too.

Third favorite: NYC Lippin' Large Lip Plumper. This tingles when you put it on, which I like, and leaves a sheen a lot like the Urban Decay. Doesn't stay quite as long, but costs much less. (Drug stores.)

What I Don't Like:

This is what my lips look like with lip stain.
I don't like lip stain, like all those 24-hour lip colors.

This is a personal preference, because I personally pick the skin off my lips when I'm stressed, and the lip stain makes my lips look like a patchwork quilt. The lip stain clings to the different textures of your lips in different ways, making some of it look much darker than others.

Even if you don't have this problem with different layers of skin on your lips like me, there's still the problem of once it starts to wear off, the edges are bright red and the middles disappear. It's just overall not my favorite thing.
