First of all, let's get this out of the way... Tiffany at BloggyMoms is hosting an October Blog Hop if you're interested!

I've met some pretty awesome blog/twitter friends through these things before, so I'm a fan.
After work I came home to a house full of dirty dishes and the diaper we forgot to take out before we left this morning.

Second... today I worked a longer shift than normal in a different store location, where things are dirtier and less organized and WAY busier than my store. I learned two things: I love my store, and I'm scared of Christmas. It's coming, whether we like it or not, and I'M WORKING RETAIL. This means I will be in the heart of it all, enjoying extra-long hours, closing the store at 2 am, and our store will be as busy as this store was on a regular day. I am definitely not looking forward to this. (But, the fun part is, I can't afford Christmas if I don't work my way through Christmas, so... I'll be doing it anyway.)
Something did happen that totally warmed my heart, though, so I'm going to share it with you before I go to sleep. (Apparently I'm working another 35 hour week this week, starting tomorrow morning.)
I'd been increasingly frustrated over the course of my shift, and after a lady yelled at me because a 2-yr-old peed in the toy section, I was in a pretty less-than-awesome mood. A woman walked up with her little girl, and her little girl showed me a dress she wanted to try on. The dress was a size 3T, so she was really young. In the most adorable little Spanish accent, she asked me, with REAL hope in her eyes:
"Will this dress give me magical powers to fly?"
I wanted so badly to say yes.

How I miss being young and hopeful.
